Default Changing Front Springs

Hello,

I'm about to start the project of a full suspension upgrade and have questions about removing and installing front springs.

After watching videos it looks like the front springs can be removed by placing a jack under the control arm and slowly lowering it so that it looses all of it's tension. Then to install you will need to use a spring compressor to get it compressed to a height to be able to install.

Is this correct? If so, what spring compressor is needed? What safety precautions should be taken?

Thanks!

You should be able to rent a spring compressor at NAPA and they should know what you need for your car.

You will find both procedures are helpful and necessary
2 big line up punches a good jack and a spring compressor
You will find that spring real tough to compress
On the Camaros and Mustangs I use strut style compressors (outside type)
Get it started then install the inner Camaro style compressor in the spring and assemble with the floor jack and the line up punches
Good luck

Thanks everyone. I got them changed a while ago just forgot to check back here.

I saw a bunch of videos of people just lowering the control arm and taking the stock spring out. I was not able to do that. I needed to compress the spring to remove, and then compress the new spring to install. I also needed a crowbar to pop the new spring into its grove.
