Default starts in all gears?

Hi everyone well among other issues I found my camaro when it did start would start in all gears, The engine has been monkey around with and it has a stock TH350 thransmission in it, does it not have a neutral safy switch on it? is it normal for someone to bypass this feature? I now can't start my camaro and like I said it use to start in all gears is it possible that maybe the neutral safty swicth is a cause of my no start issue? I'm confussed because I thought when that switch failed it would not allow me to start at all, which is why I'm asking. has people removed or bypass this swicth before? should I replace the old switch?

I'll try to answer in order:
It did from the factory, no way of knowing from here if someone may have removed/bypassed it.
Normal only if the switch is faulty and the person is lazy or cheap and doesn't replace it.
Yes, that's a possibility.
Yes.
Yes, if it's bad or missing.
What type of shifter do you have; factory column, factory console, or aftermarket console?
Have you tried looking for the safety switch yet?

I would hunt down that safety switch or the wiring for it if the switch is missing. This is probably were your problem is.

Check your other post! Looks like someone is asking a similar question using your name!

Maybe you should consider dropping one of these threads about the same issue, and asking all your questions on the other thread?

I can blend the two threads together, but I'm a bit cornfused as to the status of the car.
This thread is titled "Starts in all gears", the other is "Won't start, nothing".
Talk about being on both ends of the spectrum, there's a bit of a difference there.

Hit it hard but make it fall short?

Sounds like whoever installed the aftermarket shifter may have cheaply bypassed the NSS and now that bypass is failing.

I kind of agree with the logic. Not sure about the push button start though.
