i know a 93 has a tach filter that changes the rpms like that if you wire it up without it. wonder if they used it in 79

Could be the car used to be a v6 model, different tach. If it was one, the fifth digit (engine code) of the VIN would be "D". For V8 models: G=305 and L=350

Still has the sticker under the hood that says it was a 305 V-8. Looks to be a factory 4 speed with the stock shifter still in place,pretty much original from what I could tell aside from a Streetmaster intake and carb.
