True fire under? I've never seen that. When I said ghost I meant flames layed out in darker silver base. I can't wait to see it. Do you have all the sheet metal for the front now?

Should be an interesting paint scheme. I'm curious to see how it looks when it's all done. I've decided to go '75 Corvette Dark Red Metallic on the gasser. I don't want any of the new colors as they all seem to have some pearl in them, and pearl changes color under whatever light it gathers. Sometimes this makes red look sort of purple, and I don't care for the purple hint when the sky is clear and picking up blue tint reflections.
I wonder if the blue flames under the candy red wont end up looking like purple ghost flames? I think I'd ghost them in in some shade of gray to black, so they wont show as purple.

val thats a good idea i seen several black ghost rally stripes under candy apple red, looks good,i think that dark red metallic looks similar to candy apple red.remember the movie corvette summer that candy apple red corvette is the best looking corvette i ever saw.what about if did dark orange flames under the candy apple red, maybe that would look ok,been a little bit since i painted flames on car, been doing a few tanks for mortor cycles over the winter, its a hobbie of mine i love to paint flames.but sure dont want them to look purple, especially not a tru fire flames.

I did a bike a few winters ago with silver base. Then I tinted the silver with black to shoot Hot Rod style flames. Then I highlighted them with darker silver black And finally I shot an orange over to a final color of Crown Royal whiskey. I wish I still had pics. I killed that computer and lost so many pics. It looked awesome. I'm no lavalee, but I've never been able to get real fire to look right on any color but black.

My opinion on "ghost anything" is that they shouldn't be seen from most angles. Then come out of no where. I have been doing alot of reading here How to Paint Your Own Car, Auto Body Discussion Forum and Videos | Learning how to paint your own car and general automotive restoration
As well as a few other places. So my input is really only what I heard not actual experiance. That being said the ghost should be an inter coat clear tinted with body color. I've read as little as a few drops of color to tint a pint of clear. If I had more disposable income I would put some of my theories to the test. I would love to do paint on the side for extra money.

I think if true fire where do right it could be awesome as a ghost. I have kicked around ghost Z28 decals. In the end I will just try and bury the decals in clear. I've read some have done it some say the solvents will make the sticker curl. We'll see.

i think the clear over the z28 stickers would be cool, thats what they use at the viynal shops,it shouldnt curl or tint it with a little candy paint and there u have ghost stripes.
