1971 Project

Well, I got rid of the 1982 Mustang GT 5.0, and got a 1971 camaro for me and my older two boys to work on. It is a project someone else has already started, and came with both rear quarter panels, the tail panel, sub-frame connectors, a 4-spd and clutch, and lots more. It is missing the right front inner fender, but I think I can take the one out of my 79 camaro if I have to. The 79 is also a factory 4-spd, so I may be able to use some other odds and ends, I hope.

The inner fenders have minor differences.

What kind of difference, and is it an easy work around? My plan is to seal all leaks, stop all rust, get it running and legal, drive and fix up. After the kids get older, I want us to fully restore the car.

I would have to look it up. It may be 78 and later are different. If there is a difference I thin its in the mounting and that can be changed by using the brackets from the donor car.

Thanks, pulled my old 461 and 462 heads out, they may be ruined. Rust caught up to them, and pitted them pretty bad. Does anyone know the tollerance on milling them down, so I have an idea if they are saveable.

They can be cut a ton really. Its the compression that starts to be an issue. My heads have been cut three times. They started as 64cc they're down to 59.6 now.

We're always interested in pics. Looks like some work but I would have bought if I came across it.

Yeah, the guy I got it from started the project, the interior is all removed, except the front seats. It also came with full rear quarter panels, new tail panel, sub-frame connectors, front fender, and a bunch of other stuff, no motor but the 4-spd is in it. I got it for a project for me and my two older kids; get some time for just us, sometimes scarce after the twins were born.
