Default Wheel backspace help please

Hi,

I'm from the UK and just got a quote for some new wheels from a company in Denmark.
They said that they normally fit the following sizes to 2nd gens

7x15 3.5 backspace fronts

8x15 4.0 backspace rear

Please can you all inform me if these backspaces are correct

Many thanks from luke

You shouldn't ever have problems with those backspacing. You might even get more in, but depending on the tire that can start to get iffy.

I will be going for the GT Goodyear tyres, as I'm getting some Nascar replica wheels.
At the moment I have Copper Cobra tyres on Cragar wheels, but not sure on the current backspace. I will try and measure them, but it's hard to get the correct measurement with the tyres still fitted.

I'm still thinking about 10 inch wide rears with 5inch backspace, but worried about them not fitting!. I don't really want to make loads of mods to make them fitt and I don't want them to stick out passed the rear fender well.

Just find a straight piece of wood and cut it to fit across the rim without touching the tire. Then measure down to the face of the wheel. Deduct 1/4" for the thickness of the rim and you should be close to what you have now.

Just done some measurements and I'm pretty sure that I do have 15x 7 with 3.5bs fronts and 15x8 with 4.0bs on the rear.

Thanks for the help, I think that I will order my new wheels in the same sizes

You should be fine with a 5" BS. That is dead center of a 10" wheel and mine are 11" and I have 5.75" BS, almost dead center. Besides, NASCAR wheels are 9.5" on all four corners. Why order replicas when you can get the real deal from AERO. These are 8" but the same company is who supplies the NASCAR teams. I wouldnt run staggered wheels if I were doing a NASCAR look. I would run an 8" or 9" all the way around and a 245 or 275 tire on them respectively. I can get back to you on what BS to run for the 9" but they will fit in front if done right. The 8" should be fine at 4" BS. That way you can rotate them as needed too.

I actually was going to do this on my truck because they are Cup cars run 5X5 bolt pattern. Right around $70 for a wheel is cheap too. They go all the way to 15x12 with 7" BS.

Can't run the REAL Nascar wheels as they are stamped NDOT, or not DOT approved. They also use a much larger stud,(3/4") so they would not fit a factory 7/16" stud used on Chevys. They have an odd center and the street copies have the same look, but use standard weel patterns and lug sizes.
