Default waking up my old 305, new cam?

so im not made of money, but looking to keep my stock 305. will be pulling it out of the car and cleaning it up. can anyone recommend a cam that will give me a choppy idle and would work with my 78 stock 305? i know it wont turn it into a 350 motor. im not looking for a speed increase, just using the car as a daily driver in summer.

Hmm. A cam alone won't help, the stock heads are just not good. I recently came ascross a set of Vortec heads for a 305. I didn't know they made them. I bought them for my pickup. Which has a 305, but was going to swap in a 350. Now that I am stuck with the heads I'll just use them. Anyhow. With these heads and this Voodoo Hyd Cam Kit - Chevrolet Small Block 256/262 - Lunati Power cam. It should be around 300 hp. I picked up the heads and matching intake for $75. Not bad eh?

If you have it out for any reason I'd consider swapping heads to something better. I've seen old writeups where they got over 300 HP from a 305 with a decent head and a cam change. Don't expect to get a lumpy cam and feel any gains in lowend performance off the line. Most cams that sound great will lose bottom end power unless you do more than just a cam. The kit Damon linked to wont have a big lumpy idle, but it will sound good and work very well with your 305.
