Default Vinyl top molding??

I have a '78 Camaro. I don't think they came with vinyl tops. But I know the rear window was the same in '75 through '81 Camaro's and Firebird's. Some of them came with 1/2 and full vinyl tops.

My roof is rust pitted. It's not to bad where it can't be fixed. Honestly I'd really like to put a full vinyl top on it.

I'm having no problem at all finding the actual vinyl top. It's the molding that go's around the quarter panel and in between the rear window and trunk that I can't find. Anyone know where I can fine the molding?

Thanks, NYH1!

The molding would be the same regardless of rear window type. It uses std. window molding, and the edge molding is low enough to not change from 1970-81 window types. As to where to find it; it's going to be Ebay or local Craigslist, or one of the forum wanted sections. I tossed mine back in 1980 when I removed my vinyl top.
If you have a pitted roof now, it will only get worse with a new vinyl top. Those little pits will trap condensation and be a area for future rusting. The temp changes under a vinyl top from hot to cold will naturally rust no matter what you do, unless you remove it every 8-10 yrs to restore.

Do you mean the molding between the door and window? That goes horizontal? Good luck. I don't think I've ever seen one, even in the j yard.

I'm talking about the molding that starts at the door window on the quarter panel, runs horizontally around the back of the car between rear window molding and the trunk on the rear filer plate (I think they call it) and end at the same point on the other side of the car.

I could be wrong (happens a lot, just ask my wife lol!) but I thought 75 and 76 Camaro's were available with full vinyl tops and 75 to 78/79 Camaro's were available with half top (front half of roof only) which I don't like.

Mid 70's Firebirds were available with full vinyl tops. CLICK LINK and scroll down. That's the vinyl top I want and I need the side molding as you'll see.

HERE is a '77 Camaro with a full vinyl top. That's the exact top I want. My car is the same color too. I might a go a little darker when I have it painted though. I getting the same wheels as well!

That's the way my top was. No drip rails on the roof, and no different chrome anywhere except the divider chrome along the bottom edge of the top.

That's exactly the molding/divider chrome (whatever you want to call it) I'm looking for!

I can find 20 different places that sell the actual vinyl top covers anywhere from $110 to $175. I just can't find the molding/divider chrome anywhere. Do you know where I can get it? Or have it made?
