Default Very strange electrical problem

So when I hit the brakes, the left side light goes out. But when I hit the brakes and my right turn signal, The right side is out and the left brake is lit. I checked each light bulb and there all good. Clean connection. From what I can tell by looking at the wire diagram in my Chilton repair manual, I think my directional switch is going bad.
I'm sorry if I seem like I'm spamming here, but this is the last thing I haft to fix to pass the state inspection and I'm getting desperate......

sure sounds like it could be a bad ground. check to make sure the sockets are grounded right. might even try wiring in a ground to see if it helps. if not then it may be the switch.
