Troubleshooting help please?

Thanks very much for re-explaining. I understand and will get at it soon to see what's up. Just been a very hectic week with everything out of the garage and waiting for the floors to dry and get back in there. I did disconnect the alternator and let it sit overnight. It still drained the battery completely dead. I'm going to try testing everything like you explained. I do have a new alternator I could try but it really seems like it's something else. The guidance and wisdom is appreciated gentlemen.

Is your alternator a 3 wire GM? If so it will have a single battery lead, and a two prong plug. It's possible that it may be the voltage regulator that's bad and stuck closed.

The alternator is a 3-wire. I've unplugged the 2-wire clip and let it set as well as the main lead and it still kills the battery. I have a brand new 1-wire alternator I was going to put on just to see but still want to try testing things like you explained. It might be a day or two before I get a chance again. The contents of my garage are sitting in the front yard waiting to be put away and I get to do that before working on the Camaro again....

I have tried/tested the alternator several times and I really don't think it's causing the problem. However, it sure seems like something in that car has telepathy! Or maybe the battery has just got a case of the runs...lol. I'm about due for a solution on this, never can be an easy fix for me it seems. I should have some time to do some more testing tomorrow. This waiting 7 days to let epoxy dry before driving on it is for crap.

Speaking of the battery. Have you had it tested? I've seen brand new batteries with shorted cells that will drain themselves overnight with nothing hooked up. Might want to have it tested to see if it's the basis of your problems.

I think I will have the battery tested. Still haven't done much more on the car but I'm planning on getting back at it this evening. Finally have the garage back, those beautiful blue floors look so good I don't even want to drive on it. I've had to drive the Camaro around lately as the Cadillac is in the body shop and my truck is being used by my wife. Can I leave the battery in the car and just take it to an auto parts store to have it tested? That would be a lot easier for me. I want this problem fixed/finished by the end of this weekend.
Can I ask for some opinions on intake manifolds? I bought a 327 that was just redone with 10.25:1 domed pistons, a 525 lift cam, cast iron heads and has a Weiand Stealth intake on it that I don't care for. The heads on it have had some work done but they're the 194's. I have ordered some new AFR 195cc heads for it and I'm unsure of what I want to go with for the intake. I would enjoy and appreciate hearing some thoughts/opinions on intakes.

The 1.94 heads are a very good head, althought the AFR's are probably a step above I'm not sure I'd change them out personally. I'd love to have an old pair of 1.94 heads on my 327.
As for intakes I'd consider one of the Edelbrock or Weiand air gap intakes. The air gap will keep some engine heat from transferring to the intake, and make a bit more HP. In a non air gap, the Edelbrock Performer RPM is a good choice too.
