Default tire width and size

im restoring a 71 z/28. wanting to put 17s all the way around. does anyone know or have pictures of tire size and back spacing that will tuck under fender wells. thinking of 7 or 8 inch rims in front and 9.5 or larger in rear does anyone know if this will work without other modifications. the car is dropped 2 inches in front and 1.5 in rear thanks for your input

I just got a set of 17x9 five spoke Camaro SS wheels, silver, never seen the road,

235/40R17 Front
275/40R17 Rear

(the first number is tire width in MM)

I am picking them up tomorrow. I'll post pics how it looks on the '80.

Good news. Got the wheels today and they look sexy.

Bad news, the back are a bit wide and rub the shocks and wheel well.

Getting wheel spacer and a slightly longer studs for the back. Even the 235 from the front cant get on the back.

but the fronts work real good. Good clearance for turning but the real test will be when shes turning all the way.

Ill update soon and some pics.

Its all in the bs. With some hammering of the seat belt hump I'm told a 17 x 11 will fit in back with a 315 tire. Thats with a 6.5 bs i think/.

BS? Not exactly sure what BS is.

I can hammer the wheel well out farther but the shock is still in the way. Hmm.

Thinking of spacer and longer studs. I also heard that this will mess with the camber and tire wear.

That or buy new hubs for the back that sits 1.5" farther at the base. Anyone else have this issue?

Every one who owns a camaro has delt with this once or twice. BS is for back spacing. I didn't me beat up the wheel well just the little bump where the seat belt bolts in. Sounds like you have some late model camaro wheels. I don't know the first thing about the back space on them. Back space is the distance from the edge of the inner lip to the back of the mounting pad. I have never heard of a different hub being available for our cars. Try the studs and spacers otherwise its time for different wheels.
