Timeing Chain swap to Gears or Double Roller chain

I heard that the gear to gear timing was more reliable as far as longevity. Should I even bother or keep it simple and put a double roller on?

Go with the double roller, it should last just as long and it won't sound annoying either lol.

So...was the gear to gear (chainless) worth it? Or you saying hands down, double roller is the way to go?

Oh I see, my Father just told me about the queer drive joke. Thanks for the help joe. Dad said geared was the way to go last night but tonight, after mentioning the double roller, he said ya the gears are noisey and you gotta do a lot of shimming.

Chain for me.

The new gear drive setups don't require a bunch of shimming. I just stuck one in a 350 that's going in my buuy's '56 Chevy and it was a simple bolt in. I honestly would go double roller for anything that's getting mostly street driven for pleasure or work. Gear drives are very noisy; even the "quiet" ones.
Having said this, I am going with a gear drive setrup on the 327 in my Austin sedan. But mainly because I DO want the noisy gear drive for the sound it will give my gasser clone.

I've been wondering about this as well, what kind of a noise do the gears make? is it just a clank or is it a whine?

They sound almost identical to a roots blower. Cool if it a car idling in the parking lot. Annoying as all hell in a daily driver.

lol that what i was wondering about if the noise would get old after a week of driving
