thinkin about puttin my motor in an s10
ok well i am gonna rebuild the camaro and everything but i found a 96 s10 body in perfect condition perfect paint perfect body perfect interior minus motor and transmission for 600 bucks and i found a swap kit that comes with headers and motor mounts for 189.00 but i dont know if they are like adapter mounts that bolt on the motor and then to the frame or what but anyways ive got a perfectly good 330 hp 350 and if i put it in that truck that would be a bad *** truck i just dont know how hard it would be i would keep it carbuerated i just dont know what elses i would need to put a 350/th350 combo in a 96 s10 i know i would have to run some wires to the starter and alternater and distributor but how would i run them and about how much would it cost could i use the factory rearend or what

It's a pretty straight forward swap, especially with header kit and motor mount kit. If the S10 was a V6 then wiring to the starter, alt. and distributor should remain the same. Might have to lengthen the alt. wire possibly, or reroute it to reach.
The S10 has the smaller 10 bolt, but there's been a number of old hotrods had the S10 chassis and rearend swapped into them and held up well as long as you don't get crazy with it. If you do much racing you'll probably either replace it, or upgrade later. I've got a friend with a well built 355 in a S10 and he drives it daily to work for years now.
The only thing I'm not sure on is the driveline. Not certain if it can be reused from the S10 complete with yoke, or if a TH350 yoke needs to be swapped onto it? Of course you'll need to fab up some sort of shifter, or adapt the old shifter if it was a automatic.

Having put a 350 in a Datsun pickup before, I can tell you it will be a fun machine. I had to pioneer my own conversion, as nothing existed. But S-10 conversions are popular and well supported in the aftermarket. Your rearend should last as long as you're not being dumb with it. I would get the truck rolling a little, and then punch it...the thing would just spin the tires if I didn't anyway. Driving that way, I never grenaded the rearend. Put fat tires on yours, drive it like you're at the dragstrip, and your rearend isn't going to like you! The rear is going to be the weak link of the conversion, but I'd use it. You're also going to need a better radiator, the V6 one won't be good enough.

Yes, my buddy was running the V6 radiator, and it's constantly running hot on even just warm days. He finally broke down and changed out the radiator to some donor radiator from another Chevy, and it runs cool now. I think he's also running no engine fan and dual puller fans.

heartbeat jr, that S-10 site sells different degrees of kits. Some that include a radiator, or a mini starter, etc. You'll probably get a better deal going with a package, as opposed to piecing things together once you (oops) find out what else you're going to need.

ive got a z gate in the camaro nowi might pull it out and put it in that s10 would the starter fit with those headers and what about trans lines and im thinkin i could do this swap for under a grand including the purchase of the truck
and did a 96 s10 have a distributor or coils

The stock hood will clear with the right intake and air cleaner, but a hi rise might require a cowl hood. The 96 S10 had HEI, not coil packs. I believe that was actually the last year to have one.
Bet it will end up being more like $1200-$1600 with the truck included. Things always pop up that are unexpected.
