i was thinking today that it would be so easy for someone to just pop the hood in my 81 camaro and vandalize the engine. is there a way to secure the hood or lock it somehow?

 

One option is to use the key type of "hood pins". If you don't want to do it that way, here are a couple other options:

where would i get the locking hood pins for my 81 camaro? and are they easy to put on with the stock pins i have with it now?

 

If you already have hood pins, it will be a piece of cake then. These take the place of what you have now.

oh well i just have whatever comes stock on my hood so i think its actually the latch. what would i have to do to install the pins instead?

 

Oops, missed this.
You would have to do some careful measuring and drilling. The studs mount on the radiator core support, and you need to drill through the hood in matching locations to mount the lock mechanism. But, be sure you want to go that route since it will deface the originality of the car, if that's important to you.
