Exclamation Starter Confusion

I am cery confused as to wire my starter. I have a '81 camaro with a '76 350. I know I need to connect the positive battery wire, the ignition wire and a ground but I have no idea where. There are two studs coming from the soleniod and one from the starter motor (see illustration). Can someone please tell me which wire goes where!!!

the big battery wire goes on the big post in the middle of the solonoid, the little wire goes on the little post and the black ground wire if u have one would go to the starter case.

nope the power goes from the solonoid into the starter. solonoid is of course bolted to the starter.

There already is/should be a short straight pigtail wire coming out of the starter motor case that connects to the solenoid.

Yes you do need to connect the solenoid to the starter! That little strap that Camaro69 mentioned sits in front of the solenoid. When you slip the solenoid over the plunger, then you turn the solenoid until the tab slips behind the starter, and the two screws line up. At this time the strap will line up with the hole that it's sc rewed to.
Of course if you buy a complete starter/solenoid together, then it's probably already attached and the strap in place.
