I looked up the Vin Codes online for my 79 and it shows that the second dig is a Q... Q=Sport Coupe... What's this mean?

 

it means it is not a z-28.its just your standard camaro,nothing fancy, nothing flashy.you can make it what ever you want,you just have to upgrade a couple of things

Does that mean its a 305 or could it still have a 350?

 

my car is a 78 sport coupe and it had a 350 in it.

 

Is there a way to tell the Diffrence between a 305 and a 350?

 

not sure if there is a visual difference but you could look the block number up at www.mortec.com

 

The number on the heads would be easier. MUCH easier to find. Just pull off a valve cover and the number should be stamped right there.

 

thats true but you dont know if someone has had to replace the heads.they could have put 350 heads on a 305 or vise versa.get the block# off the back of of the block where the bell housing bolts up on the drivers side.
