Default need help buying camaro!!!!!

ok here is the deal in the quicker version. im 18 years old and obviously love cars. there is a 1979 berlinetta for sale but with a z28 350 v8 4 barrel and 4 speed man tranny for 1800 dollars for sale. i went and checked it with a friend and it turned right over and sounds great with new exhaust. there are 3 major problems to make it daily driver 1) rusted hole in drivers side floor pan about 3 inches in diameter...but me and my dad would weld sheet metal over it. 2)needs brand new shocks in the rear, 3) there is no passenger seat. other than that interior is good with new rug and missing some of the paneling on corners and ceiling. dash is in good shape though. the guy needs money(he is a builder) so i figure 1200-1400 is a reasonable price. it had air shocks and i found universal racing seats for 200 so drop 300 in it to make daily driver and a day of work...is that not a good deal??? any suggestions on how to better pitch idea to father who will be dishing out good amount of cash. PLEASE any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Tell him it's a learning experience. You'll learn how to fix things and how to drive a stick (unless you already know that). Bought my Camaro at 17 years old. Seat is no problem you can find used ones on ebay, junk yards, etc. or buy aftermarket racing seats. I got my Scat Procar's from Summit for $156 each. Shocks aren't bad price wise just will take you some time and work, but not any major undertaking. Floor pan you seem to have covered. Rest of the interior parts probably attach with phillips screws I think.

I don't know man, I just bought a numbers matching 1979 z28 for $1200, it needs a patch or two, there is a rip in the drivers seat, and the tach doesn't work right, but the rest is solid - I think you can do better. Try for $800, or maybe look for one in better condition? I took me 5 months to find this one.

btw I'm 18 too, but I paid for the car myself - that's the best way.

Here are some pics - maybe you can compare.

Well..... They ARE out there, but damn they're hard to find. I got really lucky with mine. Do you have any pics of that Camaro? I'd like to see.

Oh, I uploaded my car into the albums here.
