Default Shaving Drip Rails On 68 SS

I recently decided to shave drip rails on 68 ss Camaro..I removed rt rear Quarter and cut drip rail on accident right at top where 1/4 panel connects.. I am wondering if i need the support of that piece in order to shave drip rails or do i need to remove whole thing.. I know it connect under roof to main body so am trying to avoid removing whole drip rail... Also when You shave the drip rail do you just cut off lip that hangs out flush or Do you have to mess with the little hump on roof panel that barely sticks out above the rail.....Any Help would be much Appreciated ..Thanks Mike

Dont do it! I shaved the rails off my old 50 chevy and as little as the car saw rain it botherd me so much. It doesnt look all that great either i think. But if you allready started and have to finish the old custom trick is to take a sawzall and use your roof as a guide. cut the rail flush then grind any high spots you get. there may be some gaps left that should be welded up so as not to trap moisture under the filler. This will cause the filler to raise over time.
