restoring a 1 owner 74 camaro
the original grill has two centered holes built in to accept the studs of the emblem to then bolt to the header panel. Aftermarket grills do not have these holes in the plastic of the grill. You would have to cut out two vertical sections of new aftermarket grill to center the studs and bolt them to that header panel.
The emblem goes through the grill and attaches to that header panel. The original grill has holes in the center to accept the studs. Aftermarket grills do not have these holes, and to make it work you would have to cut two vertical panels from the center of the grill.
I feel your pain on the front end bushings! I did that a couple years ago on my car and it was a pain! I did it and those control arms look sweet now..
do you have any pics of your project? I'm working on doing my '72 right now.

Also when I went to a cast aluminum timing cover it sealed great on the pan and face but the adjustable pointer was a pain to install thanks to the power steering bracket. another

I would love to see pics of this project, Moms74camaro.
Pyro, got any links to yours?
Yeah, just more money to buy Canton or March brackets. I'm not too into the chrome stuff so I try to find Canton stuff first.
I will figure out how and then post pictures. I was thinking of maybe starting a picture diary of the build so that any glitches in the process might be caught as a group. Thanks for all the help so far.
I am doing the rebuild in a 2 car garage with mostly hand tools but some air powered. I will get pictures of the process up for you. I started with front end rebuild of suspension, steering, ties, brakes, shocks springs ect. Will then move to rear end springs and shocks and brakes. Then to install new gas tank and straps. I am in the process of painting control arms and the sub frame parts now with chassis black. Once the car is rolling and on new feet we will move to engine work, then finally to body work (which will be professionally done.)
The build will stay original in every logical way. We arent going to go and spend 200 bucks each for original equip. shocks for example, but it will stay as original with no modifications.
Ill get pictures up. And im glad some of you have had the same problems. Pyrowaves, I am now finished with the bushings too, thank god, and i got my control arms back from sandblasting and they DO look awesome painted up.
