Default Rear tire size

I know the 2nd gens are a little tougher to fit wider meats under so I am thinking P275/60R15's will just make it under the wells without too much tire rub? My leafs are as old as the 71' and they are worn out. The existing tires (MT ET's) are not rubbing much if at all. Also, I have the 15x6 draglites in the front but the current tires don't have the look like my 70' did with a 15x4 and pizza cutter tires set up. Can I get the same look with thinner tires on 15x6's? or will I need the 15x4 size for the thinner tires? Thanks in advance

The 275/60 will work if the ofset is correct, and your springs aren't too saggy. I'd be careful going too skinny on the 6" rim, as it can be dangerous if you do. You could break the bead loose cornering and crash the car. Make sure whatever you buy is rated for a 6" rim width.

Yeah,a 275/60 with a 4.5" backspace will fit perfect, like mentioned as long as the springs aren't really bad.I have that wheel/tire combo on my car and have no rubbing anywhere, but then again i also have new rear springs on the car.
Also it sounds like your going for the same look i wanted,i went with the 4" rim on the front with a 165/80,they look perfect with that rear tire size.

Cool, I will need to get some 15x4's then....I don't want to risk breaking a bead and crashing the car. I have the exact same Weld's on this 71 as I did with my 70 except for the 70' had 15x4's in the front and not 15x6's....I believe the back spacing is the same as well. I will get the 275/60's and if there is a big rubbing issue I will just get new springs....any recommendations on which springs to get?

If I had a 6" or a 4" either way it wouldn't be tossed into a corner hard.

I just realized i posted the wrong size on my front tire yesterday,i have a 155/80 not a 165.There is a very noticable difference from front to back,my rears are 28" tall and the fronts are just a bit over 24.5" so just the tires alone give it a decent raked look.As far as spring reccomendations, that all depends on what you want.Alot of people like the lowered look, and hotchkis is a good spring for that,i went with stock replacements from tamraz,i paid about $200 or so for the springs and new hardware kit,i have had them on the car a few years now and they are holding up well.

I don't see any reason that a 15"x6" wheel couldn't be fitted with a good tire that had enough meat to corner well. Might not be the best choice for slalom, but there's a lot of good tires out there that will work on a 6" wheel and give great street handling.
But it sounds like he's wanting the skinny drag tire look up front, so wont be doing any hard cornering with those regardless.

Thanks for all the info you guys.....I will go ahead and get the 155/60R15's to obtain the look I am looking for and as far as the springs go....stock is fine and that price isn't too bad at all, any tips on installing the springs? thanks again!
