Default putting shackles on the leaf springs,

i am putting shackles on the rear leaf springs to jack the car up for more clearance of tires and wheels i am putting on it.
it is a 75 camaro and while dropping the rear to put the shackles on the drive shaft hits the exhaust (factory).i guess my question is this a common thing to reroute the exhaust when jacking up the back of the car.i am doing a 5 and 1/2 lift.thanks

Raising the back 5 1/2 inches is not a common thing , so the drive shaft hitting the exhaust is not common.
Be sure you have enough slack in the rubber rear brake line going from the frame to the rear axle.Otherwise one hard bump and it may rip the line in half.
Your pinion angle will probably be way off now and your center of balance front to rear will also be shifted quite a bit forward. This will increase the front tire load and compress the front springs further. You will probably have increased cornering difficulty and increased rear body roll, as the center of gravity is higher up and further forward in the body. You may be able to compensate for some of this by installing stiffer front springs and or installing front coil over shocks….

What wheel and tire combo are you using? Shackle lifts are for CJ and YJ Jeeps not GM f bodies, I advise against them.

ok,i put them on and rat454 was on the money about center of gravity.anyhow i am putting all back to stock and while i have the leaf springs lose i am going to replace the bushings.i did notice that new bushings come with a meatal sleeve and the factory ones on my 75 does not, as the bolt acts as the sleeve as well.well any way i need 3 new bolts and dont were to get these as they are not a regular bolt.any ideas.thanks for the input

You may be able to remove the sleeves from the new bushings and clean up and re use your original bolts...

Otherwise you should be able to get a grade 5 or 8 stove bolt the correct length from a good hardware store. worse case use a regular grade 8 hex head bolt with a washer.

Always use a new self locking nut...

I did the air shock thing also, led to more wheel hop from spring wind up...

Hard to say. could have problems clearing the front disc cailpers...they are uni slot so the they should bolt up...they are only 215's....probably will fit...

Be sure to get the correct shoulder type lug nuts...
