If you mash the gas pedal down with the hopes of the car taking off, and all it does is sit and spin the right rear tire, then yes it's worth it. But if yours maybe chirps slightly then hooks and goes, then you would be better off spending your money on something else you need or want.

Strange makes a few different carriers that are under $340. I'm going to look at them a little more when I get ready to have my rear end rebuilt.

Here is a LINK.

Get a Powertrax Locker. Only about $330, and no adjusting or complicated disassembly! No clutches to wear out either! Had one in my 71 for 30 years, and works perfectly still!

A friend of mine installed the older Powertrax Lock-Right unit in his 93 Chevy Silverado. He's put well over 100,000 miles on it and hasn't had any trouble with it at all. It's a little noisy when he go's around a Conner, especially while accelerating. It's been very solid though. The newer version is supposed to be just as good if not better and it's quitter.

I'd use one in my car but I'm going to have the complete rear end rebuilt. I might as well have a new carrier installed when I have it rebuilt.
