Portland Roadster Show
The Roadster Show started today and it's a great one! Saw a lot of great cars, including numerous nice first gen Camaros, but the one that really jumped out for me was a blown 1970 Camaro! All black inside and out, and just a extremely cool car! Looked super fast sitting still, and flawless too!
It was the only 2nd gen Camaro in the entire show! Wish I had put my '71 in, but was just too busy getting the Austin gasser ready for the show to try to get two cars entered!
I took a ton of pictures, so once the show is over I'll post some of this 2nd gen, and some of the 1st gens too! I've got an exhibitor's pass so I'll be there all weekend taking in the neat stuff!

Here's a few; starting with that great '70 BBC blown Camaro!
Here's a pair of red 1st gens owned by the same guy:
A beautiful '60 wagon. This car was "speared" by a hoist a few years ago when the hoist failed and put two uprigts through the left rear 1/4 and the right front fender! Sure couldn't see any signs of past damage:
My buddy's '59 Rambler wagon:
Another friend's '56 gasser:
Another friend's chopped '41 Plymouth (not finished yet):
My neighbor's Austin gasser:
My poor old Austin gasser:
There was a guy there from Cruisin Magazine who was taking pictures for a "unique" story on our collection of gassers at the show! Not sure if they'll all make the mag or not.

I tried to do some calculation in my head how much money some of those guys had in just one car, but then my brain started to hurt. I'm sure I've got less invested in my Austin than any other car there! I'm still around $6k total, including the purchase price of the car originally.
Met a guy on the light rail coming home setup day who had a car in the show also. There are lots of Cobra kit cars at the show, but only one REAL Cobra, and he owns it. A 1964 289 Cobra that he bought used in 1969 for $4,000.
I told him he must be pretty happy with that investment, seeing what it's worth today! He said when he bought it his wife was upset and said it was a big mistake! 5 years later she asked him if her name was also on the title to the Cobra, so it seems she changed her mind as they started to go up in value pretty quickly.
His was raced extensively when it was new, so although all original, the first owner had removed the factory heater. Second owner drove it daily and put over 20k miles on it, and he has put nearly 80k on it in 40 years. Pretty cool story, and car, even for a Ford!

Here's another unique ride! Twin big blocks with twin fuel injection, boosted with NOS, in a roadster! Bet that's a fun ride!

Not sure, but I do know you lose about 20% when you tie two engines together. The two '69 red Camaros had signs saying they made 1800hp and 2100hp!!!
Two different magazine writers/photographers came by and wanted details on our display of old style gassers! They are planning articles on the group for future issues of Cruisin Magazine, and Gasser Magazine!
The cars are getting a lot of interest and it's been fun. I was a bit embarassed by the condition of my body and paint, but most folks seem to like it regardless of paint work.
