I just recently picked up a 78 camaro for $500. It don't look the best but it runs and drives. Has a later model 350 with a turbo 350 trans. I drove it 2 1/2 hours home.

Welcome, 2 1/2hours? Thats impressive. I havent had mine that far from home yet. Good luck with the project

Welcome and congrats. That is impresive, i wouldnt think it even had a motor in it let alone driveable lol, but it looks like a project. Keep posting progress as you go.

Good luck and don't give up.

Joe

BTW is that scoop molded on the hood?

78_junker 06-23-2010 06:00 PM

Yeah the guy tried molding it in but he didn't do a very good job. I'm looking for a cowl hood.

80ZJoe 06-23-2010 06:21 PM

yeah me to, i think they look sharp

It needs alot of attention. I haven't done anything but change the wheels and tires and a tune up since i got it home. Seeing some of the other post makes me think about tearing it all the way down and doing a ground up on it. Not sure what way i'm going with it yet. thanks.

well if it is going to be a showroom car yu will want to start from the ground up most likely but if yu just want a decent looking drivable car yu dont haaaaave to on mine i got lucky and most of the rust was just surface so i didnt have to weld any new parts for 500 thats not bad i bought mine 700 with no motor and the stock trans and the body wasnt very straight i pretty much work on it everyday all day (when im not working) it is a long process but if yu love cars yu will enjoy every second i love waking up early and getting to work make it easy make a checklist of everything yu want to do and have to do and go through the list so everyday you have something to do and then yu know you didnt miss anything its a long process that you got to put blood and sweat into( i have sliced my hand 5 times since working on it) and one day yu can look at yur car and say wooah i built this have fun
enjoy,
Brandon
