New Direction.. 79
so i been doing alot of thinking lately and i think i found the path i want to take and stick with, with my 79. shes a beat old girl and missing alot of her and i figured it would cost more than the car to replace. im talking things like interior door panels ect.....
so what i want to do is being my camaro is already headed towards the bare bones style i think this winter im going to go with a bare bones approach to her. like strip 90 % of the interior, sheet metal the door panels, pull center console for b&m megashifter unit. sand and clean/ apply roll on bed liner to floor and inner sheet metal like inside the doors and back side of door panels and just run 2 seats and the dash.
then sand do a little body work and in spring time reapply a flat even coat of rustolium semi gloss paint. and run it in a very race inspired way. and use it as my drag car. because i can find a better shape camaro in my area for about 2~3K that doesnt need a whole lot and is all there. i would spend more than that buying new stuff for her for my hurt girl. shes not a thrasher but shes gona get a second wind as my drag car,
sorry for the long read. i been gone for a while. but just wondering what all of yeah think?

Sounds OK to me, but I wouldn't use bedliner on the door panels. If it's going to be a race car the panels can be left just bare aluminum sheeting. Keep in mind that aluminum sheet might cost you as much as repro PUI panels though! That stuff isn't cheap!
You might consider getting 1/8" masonite 4'x8' sheets instead and either paint or cover them. Much cheaper and it will still look clean. That's my plan for my Austin project, but I am going to cover the panels with black naugahyde in just a smooth sheet.
I like the race look, even for the street/strip Camaro, but I prefer a little more finished look when going the race route.

well i was sorta planing on going sheet metal not aluminum door panels. i mean i dont have door panels right now on. im going to use my dads beat up upper half door panels from his 70 to cover the curve on top then use sheet metal for the lower half. then just strip extra weight like back seats but its going to remain street legal. i mean for a rat rod inspired camaro its halfway there. then do body work sand it and rustoilum paint it. then put w.e Cash i have into the structure and motor ect. my girl just is a little too far gone to be a queen.
also if i use like 1/8 " sheet steel and seal and paint it black to match the black interior it shouldn't look bad.?
