Default New 79 z28 owner

Hi everyone..I have been following and reading as much as i can here..Everyone seems to know alot..I just became a proud new owner..I just purchased it..He is the info..1979 camaro z28 355 v8 forged pistons pink rods comp cam roller rockers team g intake brand new Edelbrock 750 carb brand new cap rotor and plugs hooker headers with full flomaster exhaust out the rear.. Tci street fighter th-350 tranny with brand new Tci sizzler torque converter new tranny lines and tranny mount new jegs 5 star wheels 15x8 on the rear and 15x7 on the front..Interior is pretty bad and only has a couple of surface rust spots..

My question is I want to put in bigger gears with some help of my friend, but I have no clue what i need or to put in..I think they are still stock,,i was told by a mechanic who knows his away around that i should lean torwards 4.11 posi,,Is there a kit i can buy.I dont want to replace the whole rear..Trying to keep my budget low..Any help would be so appreciated. Also any advice or pointers..thank you

You wont like it on the highway with 4:11. I run 3200 rpms at 65mph.

Honestly I don't think I will ever drive it on the highway..How do I upload pics?

Sign up for a free photobucket account, upload then edit, resize to preset large (640x480), copy and paste IMG code in the thread.

ok thanks ill try that..Is this the type of kit i will need..There are so many I have no clue which one to buy..Thanks How do i figure out what size i need besides counting the bolts..?but im just looking for a general idea of what i need..thanks This is the full kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-8-...item563d255a97

As far as size you have a 10 bolt and it's an 8.5 not the 8.2 you looked at on ebay,also you need one for 28 spline axles if you are reusing your stock axles.Jegs or summit both carry them,but you can also find them on ebay or you may be able to find someone local who sells them to save on the shipping.Here is an example of the one you would need

Ok B.M thank you..Im learning alot everyday here..Smartest thing I did..I just printed out that auction and Im going to do some more research..Yes the packages are all over the place..Im not making a track car I am just trying to restore my z28 to the way I want it..I appreciate the help. Goin to try to get a photobucket account so i can post some pics too
