This is an issue on every Ford I've ever done, and I've done a lot of them. moisture gets in the pinion head and rusts the outer bearing and the yoke to the pinion gear.Try to get the pinion yoke off the gear first, if it won't budge that's fine this trick works both ways. Run the pinion nut down until it's flush with the tip of the pinion. Using a brass hammer as a drift, beat on it with a 4 lb mechanics hammer. Unless you are replacing the gears, DO NOT USE A TORCH. Another trick you could use, is an hair hammer with a center bit in the center of the pinion. The issue here is you have to have high CFM shop air and a long throw hard hitting air hammer, the little blue CH hammers won't cut it.
