Default Need advice asap!!!! About trim tag

Hey guys i just bought a 1974 camaro 350 lt that someone has made into a 350lt z28 clone. I bought the car to resale it because i got a really awesome deal on it and am trying to raise money for the car i really want. Ok here is the thing, before purchasing the car i ran the vin to see if it was an actual z28 and of course its not, because it has an h engine code. Well unfortunately i didnt pay any attention to the trim tag on the car! Yesterday i noticed that the idiot that was making this a clone was trying to make it a scam not a clone!!! Because he tried to take the tag off and scratch the z28 code in it! Well he didnt succeed so he banged it back out, but like a friggin idiot he put the tag back on with screws!!!! I am not trying to scam anyone obviously. Is it illegal if i just pop rivet the tag back on and sale the car like it is and let people know it is a clone? If i go to the tag agency and talk to them are they going to take my car and crush it because someone has tampered with the tag? Or what? Please get back to me as soon as possible thanks

Camaro Performance Magazine just answered that similar question. I don't think it is illegal to change the trim tag, from the sounds of it, you can order new ones. Say for instance if you changed the color, you could get a new trim tag reflecting the color change. They said that you should be honest with potential buyers though, but nothing legal was mentioned.

It's the VIN number tag that you can't alter. That's a big no-no.

Thank you guys you just took a huge scary weight off of my chest!!! Well now that is over with anyone want to buy a really nice second gen camaro? Lol other than that cowl tag crap it really is a super sharp car, and gets a whole lot of a attention. My asking price is 10k. But the car is just about nice enough to be in a show. I have it on craigslist.com under tulsa oklahoma. Just type in 1974 camaro clone if you want to see the car.
