Default My shift handle is giving up.

Something else to go bad. Took the car for a drive yesterday and the darn thing didn't want to get out of park. The squeeze part of the handle wouldn't work, and after some fiddling it appears it's falling apart inside, and takes some wiggling to get it to compress.
I decided to go to a B&M Megashifter, and looked at all the usual places for prices. Finally checked out Ebay and there was a used one just about to close, with nobody bidding on it! I punched in a low bid, and won it for the opening price of .99 cents! (lucky me!)
It needs the boot and cable, but considering they're close to $200 new that wont bother me to buy them! Now I just need to fabricate some mounting points underneath my console so I don't have to modify the opening. I'd like to keep from drilling any holes in the trim.

My jockey box cover is a bit cracked from my wife sitting on it back when we were dating 35 yrs ago. I see what they want for a new cover, and I'll pull mine and do an internal repair before I pay that kind of money!
Besides being a tightwad, I love spending 8 hrs. fixing something I could buy for $50. Most the time it's just because I want to see if I can do it!

You got a great deal there, hell even with the cost of the boot and cable,i think you can get the boot for about $20,and the cable is around $25-$30 it's still a great price. Is it the actual console model megashifter? If it is then it will be really easy to swap out with the old one because they are made to bolt right in the factory shifter holes.

Yes it's the console model, but from a Firechicken, so not sure if the consoles are the same. Not a problem anyway, even if I have to do some fabrication to make it fit my brackets and mounts. Like you said, the boot is $17, and the cable is $25, so still a bargain price!

Definitely got a good deal then, mine was $205 plus tax,i didnt even think to check ebay until just after i finished putting mine in.One bit of advice i can definitely give you from when i changed mine is to get someone to help with the cable adjustment.I did mine by myself and it was a real pain getting under the car making a few turns then going back up and checking the shifter then going back under, etc. it gets rough real quick especially after about 10 times going up then down again haha.

It finally arrived, and looks to be perfect. Went to Summit's site and downloaded the pdf file for installation instructions, and looks like I need the cable bracket and shift arm for the tranny too. Still a good deal, as in the end I'll be into it around $100 when it's done.
I see from the instructions the cable routes around from the tailshaft direction toward the front. I had thought about reusing my cable, (save a buck) but I believe stock routing is from the front to back. So I ordered the cable and bracket/arm. Pretty cheap at about $55 for the set.
My console is in nice shape, so I need to make up a custom plate to fit the space where my old shifter plate was that will adapt the boot to the console opening without drilling any extra holes.
Another project to get to soon!
