LT-1 Engine ID
I'm looking at purchasing a 70 Z-28 that is advertised as a "numbers matching" car. I do not know what the numbers on the engine pad should be. I've read that the numbers should be 1 string with the six digit VIN in a smaller font, followed by the engine code in a slightly larger font. Does anyone have any information or guidance to a site that might clarify this? Appreciate the help....
I guess not everybody knows there is "another" 350 LT-1. Actually, the 1992 and up 2nd gen LT1 is the "other" one.

Probably not, you would know it if you did. The LT-1 was an optional 350 engine for the Corvette and Camaro, available from 1970-72. It had solid lifters, 11:1 c.r., and was rated at 360 h.p.
Slight correction to 70Z28LT1's statement, the LT-1 wasn't used in the Vette until 1970 either.
The "LT1" (no dash) came back as a totally different engine in 1992 and was the only V-8 put in the Vette and Camaro during the LT years, other than "special" production engines like the ZR1.

Also had a 4 bolt main steel crank and the big valve 2.02 heads if memory serves.
