Default Looking for a rear end!!!

Hello,
I have a 12 bolt posi rear end with 4.56 gear ratio and drum brakes. I'm looking for something more along the lines of 3.08 ratio. 10 or 12 bolt. I don't need posi. I live in Kansas and wondered if someone (somewhat close) would be interested in doing some swapping.

Also, do you think this is a good idea? I have a 454 with a Th400. I don't do burnouts but like the top end speed?

What is your reasoning for thinking I should stay with the 12?? What would I lose if I went with a 10 bolt?

Strength,Value, and you WILL pay more for the switch. Nearly all older 10 bolts out there did not come with a POSI and then you'll have to buy one. Not to mention the time to switch all of the brake lines, mounting and dismounting. If you just switch the gears you can drive to the shop and drive away when done.

I'm in Lucas Ks.. where are you? Do you know what the 10 bolt came out of?? Would I need to have shackles put on it? I found a 10 bolt out of a 68 camaro in Colorado that they want $250 for(I haven't bought it yet). It has 3.08 gears and I can bolt it right in.

I live in Topeka and it came out of a friends 68 camaro. You wont need shackles to bolt it up to yours, if you have some on already. If you feel you do need themI can get you some. I talked to him today and he said its either a 2.56 or 3.08. I would suggest it get rebuiltthoughbut thats up to you.

If it is a 3.08 I'm sure I would take it. Ask if your friend would count the gears to find out for sure. I may take it any way. I have a brother in law that lives in Topeka and a sister that lives in Burlingame so I am up there often. Would you mind giving me your phone number and I could call and visit with you about it? If you don't want to post it, my email is friscok9@hotmail.com. Let me know. Thanks for checking this out for me.
