A little video!

Wish I had one of those fancy pin spot welders the pro shops had, but I'll get it anyway.
I'm garadually getting a lot faster on the bodywork, and can rough in a patch with the shredder pretty quickly now, and not have to fill it back 3-4 times any more. One rough fill, shred, one finish, and then sand. Not nearly as painful as it was earlier!

I tried this with some luck, not always. I ground the paint off the dent and another spot a few inches away. With your welder touch the ground clamp to the other area. The strike an arc right in the middle of the dent, like a spot weld. Now just pull the ground in the middle of the weld. It should freeze leaving the wire still attached. Leave the ground off and pull the trigger to get a pig tail and cut it off. Then use one of these bad boys to pull it out. The slide hammer can be made with a piece of all thread and a weight. Mine is more elaborate because I use it at work all the time.

Probably wont work on the Austin with the metal being much thicker than modern cars, but I'll try anything! I even considered welding a nail there, then grinding it off after pulling, but that would only save drilling a hole.
