KPH mileage on speedo?
Hi,
My 77 Camaro has an KPH speedo and i will be changing it to a MPH speedo.
Is the mileage on the KPH speedo recorded in Kilometers or miles?
As i want to make sure the new speedo is showing the correct mileage.
Thanks from Luke

It would have to be in kilometers, since that's what your car is traveling. To mix the two would make no more sense than if cars here in the US that register mph on the needle were to log kph on the odometer.

Well, pretty much all of the EU is metric, though the UK still has some things in Imperial or English measurements. Besides, "I'll have a half-liter" doesn't have quite the ring of "I'll have a pint".

I know it's metric over there, so why a law that says his car needs to be in "MPH"? That's not metric.

Because the UK still uses MPH - and IIRC, the KPH speedo doesn't have the little "MPH" marks, but I could be wrong.

That still answers your question the same way I did before. Your roads may be posting MPH, but your car is registering/logging KPH.

And I'm still puzzled why there would be a "Law" that requires one or the other. Seems anyone would be able to convert in their head and drive at the required speed. 48 kph=30mph, 96kph=60mph.
