Not sure it will go $5,000, but if you post a picture we might be able to better judge the value. It also depends on the model Camaro, as std. models usually wont get what a RS or Z/28 will bring. Is this a Turbo 350, or a 4spd?

I don't believe you could ever get $5,000 for a non running 1977. Basically it ould have to be looked at as a shell with a core motor, since potential buyers will be assuming a complete rebuild needed. Probably more like $2500. Now if you get it running, that's a whole different scenario.

Best place to start figuring which engine it has is to look at the code on the block. It's just at the base of the head on the front passenger side of the engine. That wont tell you what's inside, such as if it was bored out, or stroked. It also wont tell you anything about the internals of cam, etc. If it turns out to be a hi performance block it could have the 4 bolt mains.
Check the front of the heads and maybe pull a valve cover to see which heads it has too. If they're 194 or 2.02 heads that is even better. There's a casting number in the lifter area.
