idle problem
I bought a 1974 plain jane sports coupe comaro when i was stationed in North Dakota, the car ran so bad i had to rebuild the top half of the engine. i installed a 454 comp. cam and edelbrock RPM intake. i changed the sotck heads and put 441 head with the 2.02 intake and the 1.6 exhaust, installed 1.6 full rollerized rockers. i had the heads build like Z28 heads. My Sgt. also rebuild my 750 rochester quadrajet; he had it re-bushed and changed the metering rods. when i put every thing together and timed my timingto the 8degrees BTDC it seems to not want to idle. i have had to advance the idle to about 25 to 30 degrees BTDC for it to move in any hurry. i was wondering if any one has every ran in to this problem and if it is normal, or if in my limited knowlege did i do something wrong. could you please help me out, thanks inadvance

RE: idle problem
i have my396set @ 12 BTC (intial) and a total of 36. My idle still sucks until the engine is warmed up good. The biggest problem i have is the the #8 cylinder misfiring. it doesn't miss all the time. it will run like a champ for days and then all of a sudden BAM skip on #8, F@#King mallory ignition.
hope it helps
