Identifying a Z28
I purchased a 1970 camaro this past summer and it is in need of a restoration. After picking it up i noticed it had Z28 badges but was confused by the column shift automatic trans so i thought maybe it was a clone. I am unable to look at the car at this moment because it is in storage but could anyone tell me if 1970 Z28's ever came with a column shift? I also know it has the 150 mph speedometer.

The 150 MPH speedo doesn't mean it's a Z28, as that was a option on lots of early SS, RS, and even std. V8 Camaros. Not sure on the column shft. I've never seen a Z28 with that, but I suppose it may be a rare option. The only real way to tell is by the VIN plate number codes.

You might or might not be able to identify it as a Z/28, it depends on where it was built: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/faq/chev...o-faq-Z28.shtm

My 1973 Z28 came with a column shift, i have had the car since 1975 and bought it from the original owner.
I have seen one or two others too.
For years I had people look in & try to tell me it was not a Z28, but it is on the VIN plate.
I finally bought a 1978 ? Z28 Horn button
It will go back to the original horn button when the overhaul is complete.
In 1973 I believe there were less than 975 Camaros with column shifts.
