Default How much is a subframe worth?

Alright guys, the wife and I along with my father have realized that this Z28 is not for me. Way too much rust and not worth it. Now I am going to part the car out. I have the motor and transmission along with the front subframe and rear end and the t-tops in good condition. I am wondering how much you guys would say each part is worth? Don't worry, I found a 72 camaro in southern Texas that my dad is gonna go look at tomorrow. This time I refuse to buy a rusted out car. The guy said its only got a couple of small spots of rust so hopefully it works out. Its got a 350 that he rebuilt and the TH350 thats been rebuilt and it looks like it's in pretty good condition from the pics. He's asking 2800 down from 4000 nearly 2 months ago so their may be something wrong with it or people in his area have no idea what they are passing up.

I would jump on that 72 in a heart beat, maybe buddy is stuck in a rut? but as for the parts it all depends on who is selling lol. i see sub frames go from $150-$300 bare to $600 with the suspension around me. as for the engine and tranny, what were they again lol? but depending on where you are i think Val (1971BB427) was looking for an engine and tranny for his new project? But that car has a bunch of other parts to sell for you to make some money back but it will most likely take a bit of time.

well i live in a small town in missouri and im surrounded by farms with old rusted out cars setting in fields, any 1st gen. ive found just for a full resto car usually is about 2-3 grand, and 2nd gen cars range from 1000 - 1500 just for the shell, now if i goto the city (Chicago) and the suburbs around there, then those same cars in better shape run about 500 bucks, you trailer them home about another 2-5 hundred bucks and you can at least get it to run. so my guess is its all about demand. i would start a little high then go down if you get no bites. me personally i wouldnt buy a rust bucket unless it was a 69 but thats just me, lots of people go for it, try ebay motors see what pans out there, at the bare minimum at least get your cash back. well hope this helps man.

It's the original 350 motor and TH350 transmission. It used to run, but had a flat cam lobe. I haven't done anything with it so it is still greasy as hell, but I will clean it up and post pictures soon if the Army will stop making me work so damn much and give me some personal time. If you can give the guy who's looking for the motor and tranny my e-mail or tell me how to get in touch with him I would appreciate it. chris.white10@us.army.mil Thanks for your help man.

I've seen bare sub frames for 50 bucks. The engine is a hunderd bucks running or not, if its a four bolt 010. Thats in my part of the world. Yours is probable a two bolt sut still 50-75. I usually tell the person tear anything they want off it. I just get them for the block, then I don't have a ton of parts layin around. If you can start it 400 I guess. Posi rear? I don't know. I sent a PM.

My last subframe I sold for 100 just to get space back in my garage. Yesterday I just bought a running 81 berlinetta ttop camaro no rust running matching numbers 81k original miles etc for 480 and drove it home. I would love a early 2nd gen, just scarce in my area.

I'm the guy looking for a motor and tranny, but shipping would kill it, and if it needs rebuilding there's tons of those cheap around me. Thanks.

I am I bought that car for the ttop glass and the rims. Already have a buyer for it. So I get to keep what I want and get my money back. Decided to get rid of the formula as well. The 80 RS is going too.
