Question how much horsepower am I making?

I would appreciate any thoughts on how much horsepower you think I may be making on this motor- its my first build and I think it should be about 600hp at the crank at 8lbs of boost. the engine is a dart little m block with .030 overbore, forged rotating assembly by eagle,5.7 rods,4340 steel crank, 32cc dished pistons,AFR 227 aluminum heads, comp roller cam-565-571 duration, super victor intake, supercomp 1.75 headers,x-pipe,flowmaster super 44 mufflers,3 inch exhaust,pro-systems blow thru 950 carb,sno-performance methanol injection, pro-charger d1sc supercharger at 8lbs. boost,3.90 rear gears,3200 stall converter, ran 11.56 @122.83 mph. I'm not a seasoned racer, I go to the track 1-2 times a year and would like to know if the times are about right for the make up of the engine? the car weighs 3460lbs with me in it.

Can't say for sure, but it sounds like it ought to make 600 hp. I assume you meant .565"-.571" lift, and not duration. That's more degrees than a circle has!

thanks z-28pete for the link,I guess I need to crank up the boost a little bit.the local bench racers were making estimates and now I can show them how far off they are?

Trap speed vs weight is the best estimator of HP. ET is too dependent on chassis set up and driver ability for it to be a good indicator of engine power; however, it does determine the winner.

I'm not tryin to dawg your stuff but those are embarassing numbers from a pro charged anything. With the methanol you should be able to dial in more timing. Your 122mph trap speed should be around 10.50-10.80 range if i was gonna guess. I think your header dia. maybe a touch big, and may the carb too. It seems like I read that a 750 blow through was suffice up to around 800hp. I have the BB pump gas champ less than a mile from me. He's a jerk or I'd ask his input for you. Here is there small SBC it only makes 800hp. http://www.smreperformance.com/proch...ine-800hp.html Give these guys a call they'll hook you up, for the right price.

its ok 77nomad, I am trying to tune this thing on my own and I know some fine tuning is still necessary, however around here nobody seems to be able to give me any advice,so I'm doing the trial and error method.I appreciate the link you sent and will check it out, hopefully they can lead me in the right direction.I also found a link to a horsepower calculator@fastcoolcars.com that says I have more hp than the one @ dragtimes.com so I don't know what one to believe.

l would think your header diameter is OK, maybe even a 1 7/8 would be better under boost conditions. You're stuffing a lot of air in there and you need to get it out. Typically at the track I see 11 teens from friends trapping around 122. You're pretty close to 600 crank hp. Sounds like you could use more cam.

You might be pretty close, I can't really speculate unless I know the weight of your car. A generous calculation would be to say that your car weighs 3800 lbs and makes 600hp with a final drive of 1:1. The car would run a presumed 10.70. The 8th mile should have been around 6.90. Truthfully a car that weighs 3800lbs with driver and ran an 11.56 @ 122 would be making 512.36rwhp. Here is a link, I have found it to be dead accurate.
