HELP!! Speedometer gear / bullet replacement
Well,..I think I have really screwed up.
My speedometer wasn't working and I diagnosised it to be a bad speedo gear. Today, I went to remove it. I removed the small bolt and the retaining clip, (half circle). I thought this was all that held the gear assembly in the tail.
I tugged , tapped, and pulled,..but it would not come out. I decided to put a set of pliars on it so I could "tap" the pliars to remove the plastic housing. You guessed it,...I broke the housing where the speedo cable attaches.
To make matters worse,.the gear assembly still hasn't come out.
1)- How do you remove the gear?
2)- Where can I find teh plastic part that I broke, (and what is it called)?
Thanks in advance guys,

I take it you're talking about the speedo gear housing. I've never seen a plastic one, you sure it wasn't made of cast pot metal? Over the years, they can get all corroded and practically weld themselves into the trans. Another issue that you can have with the old worn stock ones, is with them leaking tranny fluid, even with a good o-ring.
I replaced mine with one of these steel ones, and the leaking problem was solved for good. Speedo Gear Housing
