HEI Corrected cap with MSD Ignition
I was wondering if anyone has used a corrected distributor cap with a high voltage setup? I have an Accel HEI Corrected cap mounted on my 350 and I just purchased a 6al MSD box. It ran great for about a day and now it runs like I am getting alot of cross igniting. I removed the cap and I see there is a wire visible above the epoxy resin on the inside of the cap. I am wondering if maybe the cap was only designed for a low voltage setup? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really liked the difference the 6al made and I don't want to take it back. Maybe I should just switch back to the normal cap.
Thanks, Justin |

yea I never throw away good parts. Never know when you might need them. I will do that tomorrow.

Whats the corrected cap? I have the deal that adapts the blaster coil to a HEI cap. Is that it? If so I've never had trouble.

the corrected cap basically puts cylinders 1,3,5,7 on one half of the cap, and 2,4,6,8 on the other half so you dont have all the wires crossing. i was thinking about getting one after i saw the commercial but not now.

Ahh a crab cap.

Yeah, it's really something a high end show car owner would worry about, but they don't drive their cars much.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the cap was not at fault for my car running like crap. I had to change my distributor today. It was all worn from the vacuum advance springs to the worn gear on the bottom of the distributor. There was about 1/4 inch up and down play on my rotor button which was digging into the underside of the cap. Exchanged cap and bought an Accel Hei distributor. Runs awsome now and I just wanted to clear things up so I didn't mislead or discourage anyone. Thanks for all the advice.

Great! Glad you found the problem. Too bad it wasn't a cheap fix like a cap.
