Alright I got the distributor in, I rotated the rotor around till it went in all the way idk if it's in the right spot timming wise now. I thought where I had it was where the marks lined up but now its in at least. And I got everything hooked up except for the distributor vacuum line I can't figure out how to tell if it needs full or part vacuum. any help? I'm sure this is yet another noob question but I can't find anything on it in my manual.

Hey James, your prob with the dist. going in was most likely the oil pump not lining up with the dist., for that you would just take a flat screw driver to move it a bit (oil pump). Now once you have the dist. in the dist. should be pointing towards your #1 plug and your #1 piston should be a top dead centre.

thanks for that vid it makes sense. I got it in but im gonna have to time the engine cause I didn't mark where the rotor was originally so I'll have to figure out #1 tdc, the rotor is pointed that way but idk where its last position after running was anymore so yeah more fun before i get to try the new toys lol

yup, just start by setting it a tdc on the intake stroke. Then get the dizzy pointed toward 1 and the oil pump drive shaft lined up.
