No, I wouldn't go any higher on air pressure, as you said it will ride too harsh. Too bad the sale is over at Summit. I bought a pair of new leaf springs on sale there last year for $100 a pair. They're about $94 ea. now.
You might consider checking the local wrecking yards for either a Camaro with the 5 leaf set, or a car that has more arc to add leafs to your pack. We just did this on my buddy's '56 Chevy yesterday by buying a pair of springs and pulling a few out of the set to replace the ones that were flat in his set. We kept his main leaf, and removed 4 flat ones, then added 4 from a set with more arc. When we set it down the rear was 3" higher than it was before with 60 lbs. in his air shocks! Now he runs just the minimum 25 lbs. in the shocks. Only took us a few hours to do it with a couple large C clamps, and new 5/16" allen cap bolts to use as new centering pins.

Well my springs only have 3 leafs so thats part of the problem but next time I'm in oklahoma I can check my other 79 z28 roller for it's springs.
Right now I'm just gonna deal with getting it on the road first then go from there.

Yeah, I was kinda even wondering if mine were lowering springs since they are so flat and only 3 leafs.

Well today was maybe 40-45 so it was nice and for once I didn't have to start a fire just to work on the car, I got all the small stuff done to the camaro and changed the old oil in the engine. then it was time to start it up, ran good, love the way it sounds! sounds like twice the motor that 80 was.
Now all thats left is to add some gear lube to the tranny and put the power steering pump on, Not sure if I need new hoses or not yet.
Once I get that done I can dig it out of the garage and test drive it!

Alright! Way to stay with it. 3 huh? Mine are lowering springs but I have 5. 4 is a normal stack, 5 was the HD stack. Yout Z should have 5. If your 80 isn't a Z I would grab the sway bar, steering box, and the front and rear springs.

Well The cars officially out in the cold now that I got it drivable, so not much I can do to it. Not alot left other then body work, paint, and interior. But I was thinking it would be nice to do something for it over the rest of winter so I think I might try my hand at making new seat covers and redoing the cushions (yes I can use a sowing machine lol)
That seems easy enough since I can be in the semi warm house while working on them.

Any suggestions for types of fabric, pleather, fake leather that work best? Think I'm gonna be going with a grey/black or black/black fabric/pleather design like what my car has stock(only right now I think it's carmine red or something)
while I'm at it I might try to do new carpeting with sound dampener since my carpet is bad any suggestions for carpet, dampener material?

I used to live next to a couple that owned their own sewing shop. She once told me that if I cut apart the factory covers and use them as patterns I may need to cut inside the line as much as a 1/2". This was because they stretch over time. Du it!

Hope you not only know how to sew, but also have a machine that's designed to do upholstery work! Can't sew the material with just any machine or thread.
