Front/Back Clips from early 2nd gen Firebird to '81 Camaro
I want to know if it's possible to put a '70-73 Firebird front clip to a 1981 Camaro whitout much modification. I just like the styling better and i don't care for authenticity. Same thing for 70-74 Camaro rear end.
(I'll probably get the same hood too)

to put the 70-73 firebird front clip on you would have to put the entire front clip on (fenders, front panel, hood, and inner fenders) aswell as the core support. on camaros, 1970 - 1977 front subframes are slightly different then 1978-1981 subframes and im pretty sure the firebird subframes are the same as the camaros. you may need to do some custom mounting to get the core support to fit on the 81 subframe because of the differences but im not sure.
as for the rearend... it would take alot of modification. 1970 - 1973 Camaros have the rearends like the one in the picture above, 1974-1977 have another style, as does 1978-1981. To do the swap you would have to change the quarterpanels, rear body panel, and most likely trunk pan. the rear window on a 81 camaro is also different then 70-73 camaros but i dont think it effects the rear sheet metal. to change it you basically have to cut the back section off and weld on new panels on the earlier design.
if you like the older style then i would recommend just buying an older sytle camaro or firebird. it would be much easier and probably cheaper then converting it. plus it would be authentic.

Oh snap, well thanks anyway. If i had the money i would obviously buy an older camaro but the 80-81 is the least expensive, most common 2nd gen model you can get around here. It dosen't look too bad, anyway
