Default Ford 429 thunderjet H/O in a 79' Camaro Sports Coupe

OK, here's the deal. Me and my dad were talking about this tonight. Wouldn't it be nice if we could take the 69' 429 engine that is in his truck and put it in my 79' Camaro. My question is how the hell can I do that ? I know I would have different engine mounts but where would I find some that would hold on to a ford engine but bolt to a Fisher frame ? I also know that the tranny ( C6 ) would have to come with it. And more than likely the rear end ( 3.73) . So I know you guys are gunna chew around on the fact that I wanna put a Ford engine in a Chevy. But my grampa always said that if ya put a Ford engine and put it in a Fisher body . That you would have a car that would last a longtime. Question is how the hell can you do it?!

Fisher Coachworks also made bodies for foords along with Chevrolets. You can see small similarities in the old ones. If you can Fab you can make anything you want to fit. Check out www.jagsthatrun.com for mounts. They most likely won't have what you need but you can get an idea of thier mounts they make for engine swaps. (I used thier 4.3 to a 2.8 frame in my mom's S10)
Now I am gonna go puke because of this talk about foord engine in a GM product![:'(]

The gm engine will last along time as well. Just take care of it. More than the fab work to consider. Fuel delivery is on a different pressure, the dizzy in in the wrong place, mounts for the tranny and what about the computer (if there is one) just to name a few. I've seen more sbc's in fords than the other way around.

Did 79's have computers in them ? Or any type of elecronically controled anything ? Except the carb which has electric choke on both engines. They both have the same carb. 4 barrel edelbrock performer 650 cfm. But this is a big block engine...... The only fabricating that I am good at is w/ a Cutting Torch ( oxy acyt )....

Your barking up the wrong tree man, a 454 or 502 will do just as well as a 429. You would have to do mounts, transmission, rear, transmission mount, shifter, not to mention I believe the sump on the oilpan is on the front of the 429, not on the back like a chevy, so it would not clear the frame. It would be unique though...

yea but see ... I dont have a 454 or a 502 ... plus this 429 is mildly built .... its built enough where if I do manage to put it in my camaro the front of the car will come off the ground ... it came stock from the factory w/ 430hp because its a H/O and dad put a mild cam in it ... bored it .30 out and now its got the same piston's as a 460 ... except it will put a 460 to shame. Dad and I were just talking bout it in theory. That it could be a serious sleeper especially if we put a quiet exhaust system on it :-D

But I still doubt it is possible because of the placement of the sump...
