Here's a couple pics as promised, though not the best. You can certainly see the lack of clearance issues with the crossflow. I don't have true duals from the manifolds but the muffler still mounts in the same place.

Hey guys dont mean to hack in to the posts but I also have a question. I got a 81 Z with a 305 in it right now (350 bored .030 is commin soon). I live in Ohio out in the country so noise ordinances dont really apply out here.

Right now I have full 3" headers with cherry bomb glasspacks on them with no pipe at all.
I love the loudness of them and the cackle..

My problem now is that im putting 3" pipe straight out at make it come out right before back tires. I want to put on a different muffler but I dont want the sound to suffer. I dont care about inside noise or anything like that. I just want something thats gonna sound great!

Im open to any ideas you guys have and appreciate any help i can get!
Thanks Guys

This might sound a little off the wall but I'm a HUGE fan of Supertrapp's. Some people might tell me I'm crazy but I've had them on several different cars and loved the sound and the "tunability" of the Trapps. I'm considering doing the same thing on mine when the new motor gets put in this winter. If it's not loud enough for you, remove some discs, want better off the line performance, add a few... The sound is awesome and they'll look cool as hell coming out before the tires!

The SLP loudmouths might be a good choice for you considering your goal also? It's really all a matter of taste/opinions. Seems like EVERYBODY has Flowmasters, that's why I'm losing mine...

Only drawback to Supertraps is the exhaust exitting out the sides of the discs. It tends to turn everything black that's close to the exhaust end. I ran Supertraps on all my MX bikes when I used to race motocross, and I love the tuneability of the mufflers and the sound also.

I never really had problems with the "black." I know it's certainly a possibilty but never happened to me. I had them on two different Mustangs (one of which was white) with holes cut into rear ground effects for them to exit and on a Nova before the rear tires. I never had the black but again, not saying it couldn't happen. I just love the sound of them.

Had a Supertrapp on my 350x. Black as hell.

Sorry for your black... Not sure if the pics were helpful or not Damon, sorry if they weren't. My car sits so low right now it was hard to get under there without lifting it up. They do show how it sits in there though without any clearance issues.

78 on my plate. I'm curious how that kit works if it isn't a true dual, and you were still able to make it a dual exit.

I believe they're single in and single out Jerry.

You can get si/do or di/do. Mine had new pipe from the manifolds back so I just went with the single in dual exit muffler for the summer. I knew I'd be taking it back out with the engine swap and I'll be doing new dual exhaust later.
