Default Distributer problem, I think?????

A good friend is running for mayor and asked me to drive him in our local parade. The camaro seemed to get really hot ( i have an idiot light, no guage ) The light never came on but it seemed hot. I figured I would take it for a quick drive and let some air go through the radiator. I got about 2 miles from the house doing about 70mph and the car died. i was getting no spark. The control module tested ok so i bought a coil. I then had spark and the car started back up. After idiling for 10-15 seconds it died. I now have no spark again. Any ideas?

Pick up module, I've had a few go out on me. The electronics don't deal with the heat to well. Also look at the two wires from the pick up to the control module, they rub against the housing eventually shorting the pick up to ground. I just buy a new MSD distributor.

under the centrifugal advance. The dist. shaft runs through it. Looks like a coil with small points pointed towards the shaft. It has two wires connecting it to the control module.
