Hmm. 1200 bucks is almost to good to be true. I wouldn't go for the short water pump though. Unless you have the right brackets to make it work. I count at least $600 for the rotating assembly. $200 for cam, lifters, and pushrods. Thats really low ballin it. Count another $200 for the intake. Thats a grand right there with no machine work and carb. Is it used? I also would be weary of ANY "ported and polished head' unless they had flow chart numbers right there for the heads I was buying. Just food for thought guy.
yeah i was thinking the same thing .he wanted 1500 at first so i drop the price but were also in recession and people are selling everything cheap. i told the guy if i buy the motor i want to see the heads of the block and the oil pan off. and he said it was fine, if wanted too he will tear the motor apart and build it front of me, so he could prove he wasn't there to rip me off. and also if he dose the body work on the car that i was more then welcome to be there to take pictures of the work and progress.

I'd still jump on this deal! Get it all in writing as to what's in the engine, then get his estimate of the bodywork and paint in writing, and once he's signed you're good to go. Will he clear coat and buff it out for that price, or just do the bodywork and spray it? Either way it's still a good deal if he'll sign an agreement.

Man, this deal pops up red flags. If this guy works out of his house then I'm guessing he didn't do the machine work himself. Did he assemble the engine, or did he find it all put together? I'd be asking lots of questions, like everyone is saying, seems too good to be true. What's the CR on this build, wall thickness on thrust side, is it a 10-20 block, Mexican, cam lift and duration, where are the rockers, blah blah blah?
