compression test
hey guys just did a compression test on the camaro and it went like this 6 out of 8 piston mark 90 and up and the other mark around 80 what do you guys think. can i still drive the car like that for now. or is it time for a rebuild. so far when i drive the car it feels real smooth don't know what do, any ideas

Just don't get fast n furious with it like that...Or you'll be pickin up the pieces.
I drove a Monte Carlo like that (20 yrs ago) for 6 months...I had to replace pretty much the whole motor after that...but it got me to work and home until I had the $$$ to replace it

Getting compression under 100 is really getting worn out. I doubt it will blow up or self destruct, as that doesn't normally happen when they are that worn, but it's nearing the end.
I'd always begin any rebuild of an old car with the engine and running gear. The last things to complete are paint and interior. Starting with body and paint work is bad, as then you're working over new paint later, and chances of harming new paint are pretty good!

Or you can get on the eternal treadmill that I find myself plodding along. Pull wheezy 305 and tell wifey we can put together a nice 350 for around 2k, have friend with 64 Impala show you 13.12 time slip, vow to shame him at the track, keep pouring money into engine and drivetrain until you get to high 12s, eat cam and subsequently rings, rebuild to run low 12s, put valve into piston when spring breaks, buy new block, new heads, new cam, run high 11s, break rod bolt at parting line, buy new block, run mid 11s, buy backup engine, where in this endless line of keeping Summit Racing Equipment in business do you find the part about painting the car? Exactly.
