Carbon fiber

71 big block lovin it...I am new to forums... Carbon fiber is basically used because it is lighter and stronger than steel on the outside...but two companies have come out with not legal register(yet, nhra) for a porsche and Gt-r nissan...I have no idea what they use...But what I would use is called multi directional CF which is a lil bit heavier but is well over 10x stronger than steel, and will not shatter like the ferrari enzo body. O and I would never show that i have carbon fiber it all would be painted. So noone would no, and the prices are coming down...slowly but surely

Ok, thanks! I'm not too saavy on cf, as most I've seen was on rice rockets that didn't interest me. At my age I'll probably stick with what I have, as it's mostly show on the street and if you paint it it doesn't show. Of course if I was still racing it would be at the top of my list because of the weight savings.

Well if you ever get into mpg lol or just want drop some weight on your car email me at jakefrey26@gmail.com, I do not have anything yet but if I get a number of others I will start. Because as of now only hoods and trunks and a litle more throughout online companies. I want fenders and doors.

I seem to be going the wrong direction lately! Everything I put on my car adds weight over what I took off! Just changed the whole exhaust system, and I'd guess it added 50 lbs. to the car!

Not ready for prime time yet. The cost involved in making cross fiber Carbon fiber is still to high for Automoive unless its the kind of car where money does not matter. There are a lot of "Composite" development going on but most of it is in the aerospace industry due to the cost. Boeing has a big push to make lighter parts to get the weight out of their larger planes. Lighter planes equals less fuel.
I would expect to see these super composite to make there way into highend race cars in the next two to three year. It will be another 5 to 8 years before you will see this stuff priced low enough to make it to the street machines.

anvil makes a pillar covers already, they also make hoods and trunks...there is another company called custom works, and i have thought about making my dash carbon fiber and custom door panel and consul but again it comes out to i have i do not have a company so its about whether i get enough people to want something similar and i could do something like that...the custom door panels and dash i would have to draw and put out so others could see
