About the best cam I ever used in a small block Chevy was the old Chev factory cam they used in the 375hp fueler Corvette engines,(L84) and Holley carbureted Chev 365 hp engines. (L76) It had plenty of lumpy idle, but still great streetable power, and not so much overlap that it couldn't be run with any automatic tranny.
This L84 and L76 engine used a cam with .480" lift, and it really breathed! The other L79 used in all other hi performance Chevies was the engine that made 350HP, and used a solid lifter cam that had around .390" lift. It's one of the best pure street cams ever made, and would easily idle at 800RPM's, so made an even better choice for a street vehicle. It's still plenty lumpy, but makes great HP from around 2,400-6,000 rpm's.
The solid lifter cam used in the old L76 and L84 was the exact same cam used in factory Z28's of 302 cubic inches. That's a pretty high revving cam setup.
PS- With any of these cams you'll want a good set of heads similar to the old 1.94 fuelers, or 2.02" fueler heads. If you get lots of cam lift, you need heads that will breath well enough to flow this much cam.
This cam will be close to the 375HP cam in specs:

And this one is closer to the 350HP version:

Isn't that the one they used to call a 30/30 cam because the cold set valve lash was .030 on both the intake and exhaust.
The old Duntov solid lifter Corvette cam.

Yes! It sure is, and the old 30-30 was the best in my opinion. Worked for Chevy a long time.

Yeah they worked and had such a sweet sound idling too.

I love the sound of a solid lifter cam,I had the L88 560/580 solid lifter cam in my 427 with Iron rectangular port heads and a twisted Torquer intake, that puppy could breath lol.

That's the intake I've had on my 427 for about 30 yrs. It's been said that the old Torker didn't have any bottom end HP, but I have always found it to be a really great all around performer.

Pffft! I've never seen a big block without any bottom end power lol.
